Fresh Sautéed Vegetables: July 26th

With so much fresh and local produce in season right now, we made the best of it by bringing in as much as we could into Tastebuds! for July 26th. We had broccoli, eggplant, garlic, squash, zucchini, tomatoes, and carrots for kids to practice cutting, chopping, and dicing. Once the first part of the fun was complete, the vegetables got added to the sauté pan with a little oil, a little bit of salt and a little bit of patience, and soon enough, we had delicious vegetables served over fresh Wild Rice from Fond du Lauc.

Each vegetable was from a vendor at the market and the rice was from our friends a little bit North of us, and it was cool to be able to share a part of their story with the tasty dish we prepared.

As it is more than half-way through summer, it is evident some of the knife and cooking skills that many of the Tastebudders have picked up from the food adventures we’ve had together this summer.

Although half-way over, the fun is far from being done. We’ve got pesto, bread, smoothies, salsa, and much coming for the rest of August!
